#Graffiti #art – time to take another look

January 4, 2013

Graffiti has often maligned as a means of artistic expression, possibly because of the fact that the public domain is the artist’s canvas.

When you look at it, though its just like any other artform really. For example, not every artist is going to create something that appeals to everyone, everywhere and the subject matter itself can be confronting at times.

Graffiti art is often political although it’s also full of beauty and humour, like this street art (below) found in Leipzig, Germany.

I’m a huge fan of Melbourne-based artist Rone who has created some stunning works.

Australia has more than it’s fair share of amazing graffiti artists, below are some incredible artworks that I found in my home town (Surfers Paradise to be exact).

Sadly, I don’t know the names of the talented artists who created these pieces though.

When you’re next out in your neighbourhood make sure you look out for street art, you’ll see there’s a lot to be admired in the work that these talented artists create for us all to see.
